Using more than one Keyword Tool gives you even better results
Keyword research is more of an art than science. It is one of the key factors in the success of your online business if done properly.
However, there are many pitfalls that you should avoid.
***Focusing on just one keyword/phrase - the days when you could write SEO-optimized content by focusing on a single keyword and just taking care of its proper density are definitely over. This basically means that whenever you're doing keyword research, you must consider a set of related phrases and words that will allow you to theme your page and "convince" the search engine that it's on a given subject.

***Relying on Keyword Effectiveness Index (KEI) - KEI refers a ratio of how many times a given keyword is searched for to the number of competing websites that rank for this keyword. Many advertisers rely on this ratio to judge how competitive a niche is and what their chances are to achieve top rankings in Search Engine Result Pages (SERPs). But KEI can be extremely misleading. If you take into account how wrong the keyword tools may be in estimating the counts (especially in case of the long-tail keywords) relying on KEI count may not mean much.
***Letting your keywords sleep - when you have your keywords, make sure that you actually use them before jumping on another project in a new and unrelated niche.
***Researching at the wrong time - This idea applies in particular to people using other wannabe keyword tools, which store keyword statistics for the last 90 days or more. It means that it would be a bad idea to research "Halloween Costumes" in November using those kind of keyword tools, as its data from the last 90 days or more would contain very little Halloween-related terms.
